I hope this list helps you finds some new ways to incorporate Omega-3’s into your diet. Please note that the above sources are not significant sources of DHA or EPA (which many credit to the improvement in cognitive function). To learn more about the different classes of Omega-3's and food sources visit the DHA Omega 3 Institute, your brain will thank you.
Problem being that it may be DHA that is important, not just n-3.
ReplyDeleteYes, I knew that was going to come up! The improvement in cognitive function is generally linked with DHA and EPA. I have noted this and provided the most significant plant source of the two. I still think it is important for people to increase their Omega-6:3 ratio, and many people aren't fond of seafood in general.
DeleteThe DHA that fish provide is from the algae that they eat- so if you take out the middle man and eat algae sourced DHA you can help yo brain without hurting fishies.
ReplyDeleteGreat point.
DeleteFor me personally, I feel I experienced some of the mental and physical benefits. I noticed a definite improvement in mental clarity and really just the way I feel in general. Now, I didn’t develop any kind of super powers or anything, but after a couple of weeks, I felt like I noticed a difference. I remember reading the phrase “an enhanced well being” when doing my fish oil research. That’s a really good way of describing it.
